Shaun Sturge received an early Christmas present after his 45 points saw him him finish top of Ross Golf Club's Christmas Fayre Stableford's score-sheet. With a birdie at the 3rd hole and a round including eight pars, Shaun will now take with him an 18 handicap into the New Year. Martin Pimlow, with 43 points, was delighted with his performance, as was Simon Buck, who maintained his form to collect 3rd place, with 42 points. Another in-form player, Kim Hampson, was one of the 41 points scorers, along with Richard Mackley and Barry le Feuvre followed by Roger Morgan and Kevin D'Lonra, with 40 points. Colin Price produced another top ten finish and was one of many 39 pointers, along with Ralph Gallagher, Harold Beach, Richard Escolme, Dave Griffiths and David Crocker.
Ross Seniors Captain, Richard Escolme has quickly made his mark in leading his seniors squad to a hat-trick of successive 5-3 victories against counterparts from The Worcestershire GC, Leominster and Burghill Valley Clubs in the Round Robin league of matches for the 2013/14 season. Richard's team are currently in second place in the table, headed by Sapey Golf Club Seniors.
Another skipper who will be pleased with his team's performance in 2013, is Terry Jarrett who looks after the Ross 'Club' team. Terry's season ended in fine style in their annual matches against the prestigious Moseley Golf Club. This was the 41st successive year that teams, involving 24 players per side, have competed for the 'Ward Trophy' and a fine Ross performance at Moseley, losing narrowly by 6.5 pts to 5.5 pts, was enough to ensure that Ross were the 2013 Trophy winners by 13 points to 11. In a tense finish, Club Captain Phil Wilson, playing with the Club's Head Professional Tim Hall, were good spirited enough to counter assertions that it was their 1 up win that ultimately got the Ross team across the finishing line in first place.
