THE second annual Ross Gazette Awards took place at the Royal Hotel on Friday, December 5th. All the nominees from every category attended, along with their nominators and a guest.

After tucking in to a delicious buffet it was time to announce the winners, as voted for by Ross Gazette readers and our judges, Nicola Goodwin from BBC Hereford and Worcester, Michael Donoghue from John Kyrle High School, Sally Perkins from the Royal Hotel and Ross Gazette editor, Jo Scrivin.

Renowned horse trainer Michael Scudamore was on hand to announce the winners and to present them with their awards. The results were as follows: Sports Person of the Year - Kris Saunders-Stowe, Young Sports Person of the Year – Joshua Simms, Sports Volunteer of the Year – Phil Davies, and Sports Team of the Year – Ross Rowing Club WJ14 Squad.

To conclude the evening all the winners were interviewed by Nicola Goodwin for BBC Hereford and Worcester, and these were later featured on their site.Read the full story in this week's Ross Gazette
