Ross Juniors under 16s produced a truly scintillating performance to crush a spirited Pegasus 5-0 and make it to the county youth cup final.
Ross took control of the game from the first whistle and dominated all areas of the pitch to produce a total performance. They laid siege to the Pegasus goal, forcing corner after corner but lacking the killer touch.
The first half was one-way traffic, Ross defending high up the pitch with Matt and Joel faultless in the centre forced Pegasus back and the game was all in the Pegasus half. The Pegasus long ball was easily dealt with. Ross pressed, James(D) went close one on one.
Ollie's pace was causing problems and David was linking well. Ross were dominating the midfield and Matt, Joel, Chris and James(D) all went close. Kieran(R) and Liam were working hard with Jake(C) and Alex impenetrable on the flanks. With half time looming James(D), Chris and Ollie exchanged passes and Ollie crashed the ball home. Ross again pressed forward and a cross from David found Ollie passed to Liam and sweetly struck the return with his left foot into the net for his and Ross's second, 2-0.
Ross started the second half slowly and the game turned on a super save from Kieran(B) who rushed out of his goal and blocked a certain goal. Ollie was a great outlet and a super run saw James(D) go close.
More pressure resulted in another corner and David found Joel who scored with a soaring header, 3-0. James(D) was excellent up front and forced a free kick, David delivered a pinpoint free kick which James(D) finished with a breathtaking volley, 4-0.
Billy and Brandon came on and added impetus. Ross pressed and Liam, with superb footwork, beat his man. He crashed a shot over his shoulder to beat the keeper at the near post. Further pressure saw Liam go close twice but Ross saw the game out to win emphatically 5-0.
The whole team was full of heroes producing a mature and totally dominating performance. The man of the match was Ollie for a superb two goal performance and his pace was a constant threat on the left.
