The Forest of Dean Gymnastics Club members brought home ten medals from a long weekend of competition in Bristol at the Fromeside Invitational Floor, Vault and Beam competition.

The event was run over both Saturday and Sunday with over 200 gymnasts competing in different levels and age groups.

Many of the Forest girls were competing in their first external competition and all excelled, competing confidently, especially on floor.

Gold medallists were Molly Hughes, Eloise Smith, Florence Eaton and Cara Charles, with silver medals for Molly Hughes, Florence Eaton and Cara Charles and Isobel Thornton was awarded two bronze medals.

In the Level A age eight competition, Molly Hughes won gold on beam and silver overall. Ellie -Mae Blewitt came fourth on floor and beam and fourth overall. Anastasia Shaporto came fifth on vault, seventh on beam and seventh overall, out of a group of 12 gymnasts.

Blake Lea Brace, competing in the 17 strong under 7 age group, came sixth on beam, seventh on floor and was placed ninth overall.

In the age nine group, Isobel Thornton, competing in her first competition, won bronze on vault and bronze overall. Isobel came fourth on beam in a large group of 25 girls. Hannah Roberts came seventh on beam and 10th overall. Felicity Allen and Tilly Davis-Lewis also competed in this group. Sophie Saunders competing in the age 11 Level A, came seventh on floor and eighth overall.

In the Level B age nine competition, Florence Eaton continued the Forest run of success, winning a well deserved gold medal overall plus a silver on vault and on beam. She showed a calm confidence throughout. Eloise Smith won gold for her excellent floor routine and Lola Newman placed 6th on beam and overall. A good result for this age group.

Eden Addis, in the under eight Level B, best apparatus was floor with a lovely expressive routine. Ella Newland scored an excellent 11.15 on floor for fifth place in the age ten Level B. She came ninth overall.

Experienced gymnast, Cara Charles, topped off the day’s success with a gold on beam and a silver on vault, narrowly missing a full set by coming fourth overall.
