In less than two years since the Herefordshire Fencing Club was formed, junior members have begun to make a mark in competition. Sixteen junior members took part in the Hereford and Worcester County Championships in Redditch recently. Nathan Higgs and Sophie Peake achieved the biggest success by winning their under12 competitions but there was also an excellent 2nd place in the under 10s for Theo Higgs and 3rd places for Theo Eggar in the u10 and Xavier Turner in the u12. There were also good performances from fencers at John Kyrle High School, Ross. Head Coach Dan Robinson praised all the fencers as, in their first competitions, each performed exceptionally well and showed great sportsmanship. Dan himself showed the way to do it by winning the senior competitions in all three weapons - foil, epee and sabre and his brother Alex, Herefordshire Fencing Club's Team Captain, won bronze in all three weapons.
