Tom and Michael Scudamore were celebrating winning the Coral National Hunt Flat Race at Chepstow on December 27th.

Jockey Tom rode Caderyn, trained by brother Michael, at his Bromsash stables, to a great finish in the 3.50 race.

They secured two winners and a second from four runners at this popular racing fixture.

Tom had already lit up the racing scene with his performance on Thistlecrack on Boxing Day, at Kempton.

Thistlecrack won the King George VI Chase with an exhibition of pure power blended with a thrilling round of jumping

Tom is following in illustrious footsteps, his grandfather, Michael, won the King George aboard Rose Park in 1956 and also rode Linwell, the Cheltenham Gold Cup winner. His father Peter was an eight-time champion jockey, but Tom said that until now none of the trio had ridden anything of the calibre of Thistelcrack.

He told Racinguk in an interview after the race: “I’ve ridden over a thousand winners, dad has ridden the best part of 2,000 and grandad rode 500 and none of us have ever been associated with a horse like that,” he said.
