A frosty morning at Ross Sports Centre couldn't chill the spirits of the Ross Junior players and if they needed any lifting that boost was provided by Joe Loftus, sporting his new 'Toxic Badger' hair cut. Juniors made a lively start and quickly took the lead after a well delivered corner from Chris Davies was nodded home by Will Barker. A spell of solid play followed and from another corner Matt Davies showed just why he is so important to this side. Within a passage of play that lasted no more than two minutes he forced an excellent save from the keeper and made a last ditch tackle to prevent a clear goal scoring chance.

Before the half hour mark Ross had gone three nil up; the second goal came after some great interplay between C Davies and Barker, resulting in Barker rounding the keeper to slot home. The third came from a crisp strike from the right boot of Luke Gray, leaving the keeper grasping at thin air. Minutes later Ross produced what was possibly the move of the match; a flowing, graceful display of passing that Rob Mac was unable to finish despite his desperate attempt at a diving header.

Despite being well in the lead and rarely troubled, Ross kept on pressing and Tom Burford came close to making it four with a towering back post header. A tactical change from Juniors manager, Jim Loftus, brought an outburst of petulance from Andy Francis which quickly turned to embarrassed acceptance of the decision after he slotted home the fourth. On the stroke of half time Barker completed his hat trick with a neat finish to end the half five nil.

Ross began the second half in much the same way as they finished the first and in the 5lst minute C Davies smashed the ball home, 6 - 0. Only two minutes later Gray got his second after his shot was deflected. M Davies and Barker both left the field to a great reception from the Juniors faithful fans and five minutes later Gray spurned a glorious chance for his hat trick after some silky play from Harry. He made up for it a minute later and put Ross eight in front. By now Athletico were totally demoralised and resorted to trying to kick their way out of trouble, some erratic refereeing lead to the game getting out of hand and after coming on as a sub Dan Morgan saw red. Ten man Ross continued to press and this was rewarded with a ninth goal after a defender turned in a C Davies cross.

Double figures came up after a goal line hand ball lead to another red card and C Davies stepped up to complete his hat trick. Man Of The Match award went to Ratcliffe.
