The weather forecast for the week indicated that the Ross-on-Wye & District Cycling Club's annual Ledbury and back would be in doubt.

With a window in the weather the event went ahead, albeit slightly delayed as a tree had to be removed from the carriageway before the start. The rain had stopped but there were still rivers of water everywhere, and a strong gusting wind. Those using deep section wheels had to be extra careful of the sudden gusts catching the front wheels.

Only nine fools turned up to race with almost as many marshals on hand. Will Bevan aimed for the course record, failing at that but doing enough to win the event in a time of 37:39. Graham Carter struggled in the conditions, but did enough to secure second spot.

Sam Walker's season has just taken off, having been plagued by injury for the last two years. He was able to steal third place in 43:41 from Max Suff 43:50 on his first attempt at the event. Second claim member Adam Spector finished in 45:18, with Matt Fallon taking his first big scalp, Race Secretary Paul Stephens, in times of 45:43 and 45:53 respectively. James Wilson and Nigel Skyrme finished in 48:05 and 49:22, but they will both be a lot quicker
