Two recent events were held by Ross-on-Wye and District Motor Sports club. The Auto Test was the penultimate grass test of the year, held on Roger Matthews’ field at St Weonards. There were nineteen entrants who completed four tests. The overall winner was Adrian Gwynne in his Mini 1000, closely followed by Richard Jones driving a VW Lupo. The production car auto test driver with passenger was won by Mark Vaughan in a VW Golf, with Nigel Pitt in a Mini 1000 finishing second.

All the competitors had a very enjoyable evening in pleasant weather. Once again the club wishes to thank Roger for the use of his field, and all the marshals and officials without whose help the event would not take place. Also, not forgetting Glen Morgan for setting up four excellent testing tests.

The test at the Wye Valley Car Trial, held at Hill Farm Putley, was set up by Simon Harris and consisted of six tests which ran five times. The eighteen competitors thoroughly enjoyed the tests, however it was unfortunate that the event, which was rained off in June and rescheduled for 14th August, meant a reduced entry list as there was a coinciding event elsewhere. This did not mean any less work for the organisers in setting up the test, the club is again indebted to Simon Harris and Angela Danby for assembling some challenging tests.

The event was won by Steve Courts in his Hillman Imp, followed by Colin Reid in a VW Golf, who also took a first in his class. Third place was taken by Nigel Weeks, also in a Hillman Imp, who was first in his class. The best novice was won by Trevor Moffatt in a Ford KA. The winner of the Best Ross member was Andy Baverstock in a Citreon Saxo.

The inter-association team results saw the Association of West Midland clubs take the cup with a result of 202.8 points. The winners being Nick Pollitt, Colin Reid and Steve Courts. Once again thanks go to the land owner, marshals and officials for helping make this event happen. The next major sporting trial will be the Pete Fear event on 9th October.
