The Ross A ladies tennis team hosted their second match of the summer season against the ladies from David Lloyd, Bromsgrove on a beautiful sunny Sunday. Sarah and Jane, playing as first pair, battled long and hard against the opposing first pair, but weren't quite able to take advantage of the numerous deuce games, going down finally 5-7 3-6. Their second match was a different affair, with Jane's dogged retrieval instinct and Sarah's superb serving helping them to a comfortable 6-3 6-1 win.

On the other courts Heather and Brenda, playing as second pair, breezed through the first set against their third pair opponents, but suddenly found the tables turned and lost the second set. With the home players suffering from frustration and the heat of the midday sun, the deciding set culminated in a tie-break, which Ross won 11-9 thanks to gritted teeth and determination. Their next match against the very good Bromsgrove first pair, although more enjoyable for players and spectators alike, ended in a 4-6 6-7 defeat.
