Following on from a great win last Sunday, Goodrich Ladies ‘A’ttitudes were looking to repeat that performance when they hosted Ludlow Castle Ladies A team on Sunday, February 17th, in Division 3 of the H & W Winter League.

First pair, Cheryl Mordecai and Steph Howell, once again made short work of their first rubber, registering a 6-1 / 6-2 win, enabling them to join the numerous spectators who had turned up to give vocal encouragement from the pavilion. Second pair, Cath Hutchinson and Rachael Wintle, having more of a battle on their hands, but spurred on by the support coming their way, once again came through on the winning side, to record a 7-5 / 7-5 victory. After a short break for some refreshments, play resumed, with the home team now having swapped courts.

However, Cheryl and Steph were not gone for long, again winning their second rubber, 6-2 / 6-1. Now Cath and Rachael were playing on No. 1 Court, right in front of the spectators, which gave them plenty of confidence to show their repertoire of shots, and see them take the second rubber 6-2 / 6-2, and all 10 points. This keeps the ‘A’ttitudes in third place, with their final match, against Worcester C, taking place on Sunday, 3rd March, a promotion deciding match.
