Goodrich ‘A’ttitudes hosted Bromsgrove ‘B’ ladies on Sunday 26th May, a team who had come down from Division 2 last Summer, so a tough contest was expected.

Kim Martin and Cheryl Mordecai, as Goodrich first pair, took on their opposite number winning in straight sets, 6-2 / 6-1, in a tough battle which was not reflected in the score line. Cath Hutchinson and Rachael Wintle made short work in their rubber against the third pair, cruising to a straight forward win 6-1 / 6-1. Steph Howell and Katie Hunt were locked in a long battle with the Bromsgrove second pair, coming out winners 7-6 / 7-5.

In the second round, Cath and Rach, with their confidence high, soon dispatched their opponents 6-1 / 6-3, and likewise Kim and Cheryl secured a 6-2 / 6-1 win. Meanwhile, once again Steph and Katie were involved in a marathon match, where they recovered from losing the first set to win in three 4-6 / 7-6 / 6-0.

A fantastic overall team performance taking all 14 points on offer. Thanks to Claire, Kirsten and Paul for coming along to drink tea and offer plenty of support and encouragement! The ‘A’ttitudes next match, on Sunday, 30th June, is a local derby against Ross ‘A’ ladies, who are currently top of Division 3 of the H & W Summer League, with Goodrich in second spot.
