Colin Bennett, from Ross, won the over 35s final in the Veteran's indoor championship in Dudley at the end of January. He is currently playing in the singles and double seniors' championships in San Diego, in which he is seeded eight.

He also recently captained the Great Britain team to bronze in the world team championships, also in San Diego, when they beat Estonia in the play offs.

Last year Colin was playing in New Zealand at the same time as the earthquake that hit Christchurch, almost a year ago, occured.

Ten years before that he was playing in Turkey, when a major earthquake hit the country.

San Diego is in California, a state well known for seismic activity, his parents are keeping their fingers crossed that he won't be ringing them, for a third time, to tell them about another earthquake.
