Ross ladies B tennis team took on their first opponents of the summer league at home on a showery Monday evening. All started well for the two Ross pairs. Effie Hiram and Ginny Higgins swiftly got into their stride and were 5-1 up before the opposition started to find form and pulled it back to 5-4. Effie and Ginny were not to be put off and managed to eventually win the first set 6-4. They then cruised through to victory in the second set. This was repeated in their second rubber with some excellent play by the Ross pair who had learned by the mistakes of their team mates and avoided getting into long rallies. Ginny's strong serves and Effie's big hitting soon had the MCS pair on the back foot and they won the second rubber 6-4 6-2, just in time for the lights to be switched off at 10pm.

Jill Cook and Heather Peachey also started well but after being 3-0 up in the first set lost concentration and the very steady pair from MCS started to throw up some very high loopy balls that Jill and Heather just could not put away and found increasingly frustrating. The MCS pair kept them pinned to the back of the court and went on to win the first set 4-6. Jill and Heather then changed tactics and were more positive in their second set winning it easily 6-2. The final set was an example of safe play with neither side really making any inroads. Jill and Heather eventually won in the tie break. The Ross pair then had a very straightforward win 6-3 6-2 in their second rubber.

Ross won 4-0 overall which was a fantastic start to the summer season.
