The Ross Ladies A Team took on Bromsgrove B Team on Sunday 23rd July, at home and were delighted to take a 4-2 victory.

Playing as first pair were Jane Pepperell and Val Davies, who took on the Bromsgrove first pair. First and second sets mirrored each other in score, and so it was down to a tie-break, which sadly the Ross pair lost.

Meanwhile, the Ross second pair, Effie Hiram and Ellen Davies, played the third pair and made short work of it, winning 0 and three.

Sarah Drake and Gaynor Raine played a long first match but it was worth it as they took the tie-break, so Ross was ahead 2-1 halfway through. After a cuppa and a slice of delicious cake, all went to battle for the second matches.

Jane and Val played well against a tricky second pair, but came through in straight sets. Effie and Ellen, were then against the first pair. They played a super match with wonderful hitting from all sides. Sadly, they lost the tie-break in the third set, but considering neither of them had played for months, the youngsters had a very good day.

Sarah and Gaynor’s second match was another nail-biter which went to three sets, and happily for Ross, the ladies notched up another win. Overall a 4-2 victory to the Ross Ladies, followed by a cosy tea in the club-house.
