Ross travelled away for an early push back against Bourton & Sherborne. Ross knew they were going to be in for a hard and physically demanding game.

With Ross again missing Jamie Caulfield in central midfield due to work commitments Luke Ward was again asked to step into the centre midfield role alongside Thomas Walton from centre back.

And it was Ward who inspired Ross' first goal after intercepting the ball on the half way line the Bourton midfield parted like the red sea and Ward showed great vision to pick out Adrian Williams in the D who duly converted the opportunity at the second bite of the cherry after having his initial effort well saved by the Bourton Keeper.

Minutes later Ward and Williams combined again, Ward again being given too much time and space on the ball he again picked out Williams in the Bourton D and this time the veteran keeper scored his 34th goal of the season.

The second goal seemed to wake Bourton up and they had the better of the game for the next ten minutes but were unable to get the vital goal they craved. Ross punished Bourton for this getting the next goal to make it 3 – 0 catching Bourton on the break and it was left to Jake Heteyni to slot the ball into the Bourton goal.

Bourton finally managed to get the goal they craved from a short corner which Tom Walton was unable to stop on the line.

From the re-start the first ten minutes of the second half belonged to Bourton and they finally managed to make their pressure pay as one of their strikers diverted a drilled ball into the box past a despairing Andrew Ridgway in the Ross goal. Eventually Ross managed to force their way back into the game.

Evans made up for this miss moments later when he won Ross a penalty flick after he was sandwiched by two Bourton defenders in the D. Walton was left with the honours of converting the flick.

Ross now take on Stroud A in a top of the table clash next week at Monmouth Boys school leisure centre.
