Welsh National winner Monbeg Dude has been entered into the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup on March 15th.

Monbeg Dude brought Bromsash-based trainer Michael Scudamore his first major race victory in January after a stunning win at Chepstow, coming back from 15 lengths behind with four fences to jump.With the showpiece meeting at Cheltenham just under a week away, Monbeg Dude has recently undergone physiotherapy in order to strengthen his legs ready for the jumps, and his owners are praying for rain between now and the meet to soften up the ground.

As the Gazette went to press Monbeg Dude was listed as 66/1 to win the Gold Cup, according to William Hill.
