With Weston FC celebrating 100 years as a club it was only fitting that they entered the HFL vets league for the summer months.

On Sunday they played Fownhope A on the astro pitch at Hereford Football Academy. The game was competitive and well balanced.

So far this season Weston have struggled to finish both in terms of taking scoring opportunities and in having a full and fit squad.

Weston have also been on the wrong end of a few questionable refereeing decisions and this occurred again, on Sunday, when midway through the first half the referee penalised a strong tackle by Paul Greenhill by awarding Fownhope a penalty.

The Fownhope striker slotted home to give them a 1-0 lead which they took into the half time break.
