It was a very wet and blustery day for a hockey match, so the club would like to thank all those brave girls who turned out to play. The Newent side came at the Ross-on-Wye team strong and had a few charges at goal.

However, Ross’s defence team, consisting of Carolyn Carver, Holly Belcher, Liese Brady and in the goals Esther Rudge, held their ground and worked together to clear the ball.

The forwards (Becca Heyes, Kim Calland, Olivia Mace and Sophie Rushe) then took control and managed to keep the ball in the oppositions half.

They had numerous attempts of goal but were very unlucky not to see the ball cross the line. At half time the score was 0 - 0.

At the start of the second half the Ross girls were fired up and determined to get a most deserved goal despite the weather conditions. They constantly pushed through the Newent defence to once again attack their goals.

The midfield players - Maddy Jones, Jess Element, Lucy Perkins, Charlie Yemm - worked hard not to let the ball pass back into our half. However, it was not Ross’s game and there were no goals scored.

Unfortunately, in the last five minutes, the Newent girls had a lucky break through and made it count. Leaving the score at the end of the match a disappointing 0-1 to Newent 3rds.

The team selected Carolyn Carver as their South Hereford Motor Caravan Player of the Match for all her hard work.
