Ross Golf Club's A Team Captain, Neil Lancett and his squad are expecting a tougher campaign now that they are competing in the 2nd tier of the North Gloucestershire Foursomes league. The squad has been strengthened through the introduction of a number of new players, not least Drew Davis and 1 handicapper, John Marshall.

Further acquisitions have impacted positively upon the quality of the squad as Dave Daniels makes a welcome return, and Warren Moore, another dedicated golfer. With the added experience of campaigners of the like of James Morgan, Steve Wallbank and Jamie Wilde among others, another exciting season awaits them. Against Gloucester, the Ross points were scored by James Morgan/Jamie Wilde 3/2, Jason Bolton/Andy Stephens 5/4, Keith Crawford/Dave Daniels 3/1, Steve Wallbank/Drew Davis 4/3 and 4/2 wins by James Heath/Niall Powell and Dave Gardner/Warren Moore.

The Ross Club are grateful to have Jean Ovens, who continues to play a significant role in the organisation of the latest Anniversary Rose Bowl. The competition is special in that it commemorates the opening of the Club's New Course, which took place on May 7th 1967. The 2013 occasion was blessed with fine weather which was reflected in the good scoring. Ruth Pimlow and Geoff Baker's partnership, with a far superior back 9 holes score in their 41 points total, made them the 2013 Champions. Geoff is a previous winner when his drawn partner proved to be his highly capable sister, Deirdre Keay. The 2013 runners-up were Pam Duke and Clive Whitson and members can now look forward to the next mixed drawn partners Honours Board event, which Jean is responsible for, this being the Strong Trophy on Sunday June 2nd.
