Ross were drawn against Dudley in the first round of the North mids Vase cup a trophy they had won in 2009 and 2010. After withstanding the elements they ran out comfortable 15-5 winners and await to see who they face in the second round.

Ross started the brightest showing some great inter passing between forwards and backs as they looked to stretch a very large wasps pack, before the game had chance to settle down Ross scored their opening try, after securing good ruck ball on the half way scrum half Craig Powell moved the ball quickly left to Casey Morgan he straightened the line before delivering an inch perfect pass for winger Craig Smith who brushed off two tackles to score wide out on the left. The conversion was missed but Ross were 5-0 ahead. The home team hit back almost immediately after winning a scrum deep in the Ross twenty two, their no 8 broke left from the scrum and delivered a perfect pass for their winger to score

Ross continued to look dangerous with ball in hand with both forwards and backs showing great skills,a Casey Morgan penalty put them 8-5 ahead and with the half drawing to a close Gareth Holdsworth cut a beautiful line inside the cover defence before wrong footing the fullback to score under the posts Casey added the conversion and at half time Ross were 15-5 ahead.

As the second half began the heavens opened delivering a torrential thunderstorm this disrupted the play during the second half and in the poor conditions neither side could hold onto the ball long enough to create that try scoring opportunity. At the final whistle Ross were comfortable 15-5 winners.

The Hagesud Bosse man of the match was Gareth Holdsworth.
