A smaller than usual field of seven riders faced very blustery conditions at the Old Gore Time Trial on June 13th, giving Julie Stephens (timekeeper) and Bill Reay (turn) not too much to do. The damp and strong southerly wind seemed to put quite a few off riding. The first five miles seemed over in a flash but with the headwind the predominantly uphill return leg seemed to take an eternity.

First man away was Richard Harrington who just lost out in his road bike duel with Martin Green of the Forest Club. They recorded 31m10s and 31m06s respectively, creditable performances given the conditions.

Fastest man on the night, for the second week running, was Sam Walker who powered his way to 25m30s and second again was Steve Millard with 26m22s, slower than recently but finding the return leg a real grovel into the wind. Next up was Paul Stephens finding the return leg not too bad achieving 27m03s, with Max Suff chasing him all the way to come in 5 seconds behind.

Club chairman Mark Lavington was out for the first time this year and rode well to arrive back at the timekeeper with 28m12s.

The next event is a 10 mile time trial on June 20th at Old Gore. Signing on between 7pm and 7.15pm for 7.30pm start.
