On Saturday Ross Juniors Senior Side made the short journey to face Holme Lacy in Division 1 of the Herefordshire Football League, knowing a win would cement their place at the top of the league. After another impressive performance Ross came away with a 3 – 0 victory to record their fifth straight win in the league.

Managers Dan Morris and Neil Tookey made a couple of forced changes from the last game with Shaun Aston and Steve Kittner coming into the starting 11. An early morning shower left a level of moisture on the surface of the pitch which really suited Ross' game, as it allowed them to play a quick passing game with the ball skidding off the surface. Ross started the game strongly, in particular the midfield pair of Jon Tookey and Andrew Densley were running the game, so it came as no surprise when after 15 minutes Ross opened the scoring, a great bit of inter-play between Aidan Cook and Eli Wooding released Chris Davies to finish well into the bottom corner when put one on one with the keeper. Five minutes later Wooding should have been awarded a penalty when he was taken out in the penalty area but the referee waved away the claims of the striker. Then on 25 minutes Ross scored arguably their goal of the season so far, with practically every player having a touch of the ball before Aston played in Wooding to finish well to put Ross two up. It looked at this time that Ross could go on and score a few more goals, however, the game was marred slightly on 30 minutes, when an over picky referee thought that he had heard some dissent from Wooding. When questioned by the referee Wooding would not say what he had said, then to everyone's amazement he gave Wooding a straight red card.
