Members?of John Kyrle High School’s Equestrian team had a fantastic weekend at Rectory Farm Duntisbourne Abbots. For the first time, JKHS we were able to enter teams thanks to the new members that have joined the NSEA this school year.
On Saturday, September 15th, the Grassroots Team, Abbey Agami, 11, Lara Marshall, 13, Ruby Meredith, 12 and Sophia Powell, 11 competed in two classes. They achieved fourth place in the 60cm class and were third in the 70cm class. Sophia Powell was also placed third individually.
This was a great achievement for the girls as some were competing at NSEA for the first time. They have qualified to go to Kings Equestrian Centre in Bromyard on December 9th to represent JKHS in the regional championships.
Later in the afternoon, the team, made up by Archie Thomas, 11, Evie Bennett, 11, Zara Powell, 14 and Zoe Whitehouse, 13, competed in the 70-75cm National Championships qualifier. They all rode magnificently, winning the class, with Archie placed first individually and Evie placed second individually.
They will have the opportunity to represent JKHS at the National Championships at Keysoe in Bedfordshire on October 19th. Only the top two teams and individuals go through to the regional Championships. See this week’s paper for more stories like this, available in shops and as a Digital Edition now.
