Young riders, John Howard, aged five, and Jaylen Tolley, who is four years-old took their ponies to the Midarc Championships and The Royal London Championships during August and came home with an armful of rossettes. They both qualified for these events at the Marden and District Riding Club, of which they are both members. John, riding ILex Pal Joey, won some fantastic awards at the Midarc championships. They achieved overall champion in the turnout, alternative coloured champion, champion show hunter pony, reserve search for a star, and reserve lead rein pony as well as many other placings throughout the three day show.
