During the last year, 2017, Susan Smith has walked over 1,000 miles to raise money for the redevelopment of Christ Church in Edde Cross Street.

The walk began on January 9th, 2017, and sponsorship was obtained from members of the church, friends and family. By this January, 2018, a tremendous 1,112 miles had been covered and the total raised so far has just topped £1,200.

Susan said: “Although most of my walking was in the local area, I have also walked in the Black Mountains, the Brecon Beacons and on the coast of Northern Ireland. I have walked with some very good friends and enjoyed some stunning scenery, so the walking has been a great pleasure – mostly!”

Susan is very grateful to all who have helped sponsor her - local friends of the church as well as her family. She is working with the team at Christ Church to promote the vision of a new church, working alongside partners in the Ross community. Architect Piers Taylor (who has been featured on a number of BBC programmes) is helping the church to create a renewed building so that this work can flourish.
