Cards for Good Causes is seeking volunteers to help run its charity Christmas card shop in Ross-on-Wye in the lead up to Christmas.

As the UK’s largest multi-charity Christmas card organisation, Cards for Good Causes operates a network of 300 pop-up shops across the UK, and relies on some 6000 volunteers in order to do that.

The Ross-on-Wye shop will be open in the Library from 28 October throughout the festive season. Training is provided and volunteers usually work a morning or an afternoon session.

Volunteer Coordinator at Cards for Good Causes, Dianne Jarrett, said: “If you have some free time over the next few months and want to help spread some festive cheer, volunteering is a fun thing to do. Our shops simply could not operate without our wonderful team of volunteers, many of whom return year after year, but we are always looking for more to join them. The profit generated by the shops makes a huge difference to the charities and the vital work they do.”

Cards for Good Causes represents more than 250 charities including the 25 members of The 1959 Group of Charities, which includes Cancer Research UK, Barnardo’s, NSPCC, Alzheimer’s Society and RNLI, as well as a number of local charities including St Michael’s Hospice.

In the past ten years, charities have received more than £40 million from Cards for Good Causes. This represents at least 70p in every pound, out of which charities have had to pay for the production and distribution of their Christmas cards and any VAT.

Shoppers will be able to choose from hundreds of different Christmas card designs, as well as traditional advent calendars and candles, wrapping paper, gift tags, napkins and stocking fillers.

Shop Opening Hours: 10am – 4 pm; 9.30 am to 1.00pm on Saturdays and closed Wednesdays.
