The emergency services were called to Bridstow this morning (February 1st) at 10.15am to rescue two people from the River Wye.
Three crews from Ross-on-Wye and one from Hereford attended the scene and assisted in retrieving a rowboat after two people capsized.
Two people in their 50s rescued themselves from the capsized boat near Wilton Bridge. An eyewitness told the Ross Gazette" "There was a call out by the Fire Brigade and an ambulance after a two-person scull (boat) was seen floating upside down along the flooded River Wye this morning."He added that members of Ross Rowing Club had helped the firefighters retrieve the boat from the river.
Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service called the West Midlands Ambulance Service at 10.21am and requested that they attend the incident.
A spokesperson from WMAS told the Ross Gazette that they had been called to reports of a boat that had overturned. The people who had been in the boat were out of the water when the ambulance arrived.
They were assessed an discharged at the scene, and they did not require hospital treatment as neither one had sustained any serious injuries.
