As a woman lay asleep in her home, burglars broke into her property and stole her rare riding equipment, overnight between April 5th and 6th. The burglary, which took place in Bromsash near Ross-on-Wye, left the woman, Judy Pinkerton, feeling devastated. She told the Ross Gazette "The most awful part was that my bedroom is only 25 yards away from where they were. I didn't sleep at all last night, every time I heard a noise it woke me."She added that the thieves caused damage to her property during the burglary. "They broke down the post and rail fence, they cut the wire and left it laying on the ground," she said. She added that she had been out repairing the damage, which had taken her a long time. Judy told the Gazette that the burglars first broke into her barn and paddock, and stole a Dartmoor four-wheeled carriage. They also broke in to a Tack room, wrecked the interior, and stole a number of other items.

The four-wheel Dartmoor carriage, configured for a single horse, was a rare piece of riding equipment that was stolen in the burglary. Judy explained that they don't make them in this country anymore, and the manufacturer is now based in Canada. She said that the carriage, which she has owned since 2009, meant a great deal to her. The carriage is made from black coloured tubular steel, with brown coloured wooden flooring and black upholstery. It has rear wheel brakes.

The shafts show signs of wear, and there are many distinctly recognisable features which would identify the stolen carriage. It possesses a very distinctive fault - its front onside Dartmoor brand wheel boss (a logo of three silver horseshoes) is missing and cannot be replaced to match, because these vehicles are no longer manufactured in the UK.

Judy Pinkerton is a well-known carriage driving personality in the area, and used the carriage to pursue her love of the hobby. Other items were also stolen in the burglary: a harness for a larger horse, a holly whip, a Honda lawn mower and a new ladies spade.
