Fire crews from Whitchurch and Ross-on-Wye were called in to help with the rescue of a woman who had fallen and hurt her leg on a steep path near Goodrich.
The West Midlands Ambulance Service were called at 1.30pm on Easter Sunday, April 1st to the pumphouse at Goodrich. A spokesperson for the WMAS told the Ross Gazette that a Hazardous Area Response Team and a paramedic office attended as the patient was in a difficult position, approximately a quarter of a mile downhill.
Due to the steepness of the path the fire service was called in to assist in the rescue of the patient, a woman in her 50s. She was suffering with knee pain, due to a suspected dislocated, fractured knee. The patient was given pain relief and immobilised before being taken back to the waiting ambulance and conveyed to Hereford Hospital.
Work had not finished for the Whitchurch fire crew as, when they returned to the station they were alerted to a young girl having a fit.
A car was parked near to Whitchurch Primary School, opposite to the Fire Station which is why the fire crew were first to attend.
The spokesperson for WMAS said that an ambulance and a paramedic attended and after treatment at the scene the girl was taken to Hereford Hospital.
Mike Duggan from WMAS tweeted: “The child was having a febrile convulsion due to a high temp. Great response from @HWFireWchurch Ff who were returning from the previous call out. Left with crew to deal.”
