West Mercia Police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to in connection with a fraud offence in Ross-on-Wye.

On Friday, January 15th 2016 a man entered a shop at The Maltings Shopping Centre and told the staff that he needed a refund on a product he had been bought. He said that he had phoned the store’s head office and told he was entitled to a refund.

The shop staff member felt intimidated by the man and issued him a refund without seeing the product or a receipt.

On approximately 12.30pm on Saturday, February 6th the man returned to the store and attempted to use the same technique to obtain a refund. The cashier realised it was the same man who had been in previously and alerted her manager.

Whilst the manager was coming out, the man stated that he would bring a receipt into the store and told them to ignore his request. He then left the store.

Police would like to speak to the man pictured to assist with enquiries. If you recognise the man or have any information, please call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 0323S of 6 February 2016.

Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online via their website. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
