A crew from Ross Fire and Rescue Service assisted at a fire in a chicken shed in Kingstone on February 17th, where a number of chickens died.Crews from Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire at a single-storey building being used as a chicken shed in Kingstone at 20:06.

Three crews from Hereford, one from Ewyas Harold, one from Peterchurch and a crew from Ross with a compressed air foam system all attended.

The fire, in a shed approximately 140 metres by 20 metres, was contained to one unit and extinguished by crews using six breathing apparatus, two extended hose reel jets, one main jet and one street main hydrant.

The incident was closed at 07:23 on February 18th.A spokesperson for HWFRS told the Ross Gazette: "We believe that a number of chickens in the shed perished in the fire but are not aware of exact numbers."Neil Lilwall of HWFRS tweeted: "Just back from six pump poultry shed fire with @HWFireRoss @HWFireEwHarold @HWFirePChurch @HWFireHereford good assertive actions by all crews. Level 2 command followed by two hours of fire investigation.
