Fire crews from Whitchurch and Ross-on-Wye responded to a house fire at Orchard End, Monmouth on Christmas Day.

At 16.37 a report was received of a house fire with one person reported.

By the time emergency services arrived the man from the property had got out but was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation.The fire was in a two storey property and a fireservice spokesperson said it is believed the fire was located in one of the bedrooms on the first floor.

The two appliances from Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service joined two pumps from South Wales FRS, who were co-ordinating the incident, as well as two from Gloucester FRS.
