The artists and craftsmen who make up the team at Made in Ross, based in the Market House, in Ross-on-Wye, are very distressed that they have fallen victim to thieves.
The first theft was noticed in August but there have been several more in September, and items from different makers have been taken. These include silk, knitted and wooden items, as well as some ceramics. All the items taken have been quite small, probably the size that would fit in someone’s pocket.
A spokesperson for Made in Ross told the Ross Gazette that are very sad, She said:?“We know these things happen but it has never happened to us before. We want to help the town keep the Market House open and accessible to everyone and we hoped that people would have more respect.”
She said that Made in Ross had decided that they need to install CCTV and hope that this will serve as a deterrent to anyone thinking of stealing items which have taken many hours to produce.
Also 10% of everything the collective takes is passed to Ross Town Council to help maintain the Market House so stealing from Made in Ross is really stealing from Ross.
