Two men, believed to be foreigners, called at a house along a dead-end lane outside the village of Clehonger on Tuesday, May 31st at approximately 2pm, and asked the residents of the home for directions to a stadium in Hereford.

The occupier’s wife went upstairs to find a map, and, uninvited, one of the men followed her upstairs. The other man then asked for a glass of water, which he was given. Meanwhile, the family dog was getting very excited by the whole incident and the owner was distracted while trying to restrain it.

Eventually the men left. They had parked their car further down the road so it wasn’t visible to the home owners.

The next day, the bank called to say there had been eight transactions on the occupier’s bank card the previous afternoon amounting to £1000, and he then discovered his card was missing from his wallet, which he always keeps in his back pocket.

The police were called, and investigating officers believe that the foreign men had seen the gent making a transaction in a store in Hereford the day before, and that they had taken a note of his pin number. They then followed him home and took the wallet from his pocket, removed the card and put the wallet back, during the time they were at the house.

The men have been described to police officers as of Mediterranean appearance, aged between 23 - 35. One stated he was Greek; he was about 5’8" with a roundish face and wearing a flat cap. The second man said he was Spanish. He was about 5’2" tall with a long face, dark hair and a slim build.
