Detectives from West Mercia Police have launched an investigation after the body of a woman in her 50s was found in a property in Hereford yesterday (Tuesday, January 9th).
Officers attended an address in Highmore Street at around 10.20pm and found the woman, her death is being treated as suspicious.
A post mortem is due to take place to ascertain the cause of death, no further details relating to her identity will be released until a formal identification has been completed but Detectives have confirmed that her next of kin has been informed. No arrests have been made.
At around 5.55pm the same day, emergency services were called to Roman Road, Hereford following a collision involving a van and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.
A police spokesperson said that the dead woman and the pedestrian involved in the road traffic collision are known to one another.
Full forensic examinations of both areas are taking place and the Roman Road (A4103) at the crossroads with Three Elms Road and Kempton Avenue, remained closed from the time of the incident until the afternoon of Wedneday, january 10th for investigation work to be completed.
Superintendent Sue Thomas from West Mercia Police said: "The enquiries are still at a very early stage but we are working to establish the circumstances of both incidents.
"Police remain at Roman Road and Highmore Street and there will be increased patrols in the area whilst investigations continue. We are appealing to anyone in the community who has any information to come forward or speak with a local officer. Anyone with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may help with the investigation.
"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved, they are being supported by specially trained officers at this difficult time."
