FOUR people were taken to hospital, including one with potentially life-changing injuries, following a serious collision involving several vehicles on the A49 in Hereford.

West Mercia Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after emergency services were called to Ross Road shortly before 3pm on Sunday, October 11.

The collision happened at the traffic light junction with the A465, where a Honda Elegance was involved in a crash with several other vehicles.

Police confirmed that the driver of another vehicle suffered serious and potentially life-changing injuries and was flown to hospital by air ambulance.

Three other people were also injured in the collision and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers are now seeking information from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw any of the vehicles involved in the moments leading up to the crash.

They are particularly interested in hearing from motorists who were travelling through the area and may have captured relevant footage on their dashboard cameras.

The A49 is one of Herefordshire's main routes, connecting Ross-on-Wye with Hereford and carrying traffic between communities across the county.

The road is regularly used by commuters, commercial vehicles and motorists travelling between Ross, Hereford and destinations further north.

Police have confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection with the collision.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation as officers work to establish exactly what happened.

Anyone who was travelling along Ross Road on Sunday afternoon is being encouraged to check whether their dashcam recorded anything that could assist the investigation.

Witnesses, including anyone with information about the vehicles involved before the collision, can contact West Mercia Police through its official website.

Officers are continuing their enquiries into the incident and are appealing for members of the public to come forward.
