It was lights, camera, action at St Mary’s C of E Primary School, Fownhope as the children gave a professional performance of the Nativity.

72 children in Key Stage One, that’s Reception, Year One and Year Two, were involved, and delighted an audience of over 200, across three performances on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th December.

This year the story was A Miracle in Town, a beautifully simple children’s nativity by Niki Davies full of Christmas charm and music.

“Christmas is a huge, joyful celebration at a church school like ours,” said Mr Milne, Head Teacher. “One of the ways we celebrate is by having fun and performing the nativity. This year our children aged four to seven gave three performances of A Miracle In Town. We try to make it as realistic as possible and include sound, lights and a full stage set up.”

“It’s one of the highlights of the year.” added Sophie Williams, parent of children in the school and pre-school. “Every child gets a chance to be proud, to be up on stage. It’s a very professional show and makes the children feel great about taking part. We’re also lucky enough to be able to get a recording of the performance which my children love to watch again at home.”

She continued: “My other child is in pre-school where they perform a more low-key traditional nativity for the parents. It’s very sweet and really brings to life the story of Jesus’ birth in a way they can understand.”
