A mile long stretch of trees will be planted along the riverside at Ross-on-Wye to attract more visitors and provide Ross residents with a feature to enjoy which will continue to grow over the next 100 years.
Ross Tree Warden, Rob Taylor has been working with the Town Council to plan a Linear Arboretum which will stretch from Wilton Bridge, through Long Acre and around the Rope Walk Meadow. Eventually it will be about a mile long and as each tree will be different it will be made up of trees from many parts of the world. Many of the trees have wonderful flowers, interesting leaves, bark or autumnal colour.
There is funding in place to make a start on Ross-on-Wye Arboretum but there is also an opportunity for individuals, families, group, organisation or companies to sponsor a tree which, in years to come you could almost call your own tree. You can choose from the tree list which will be on display in the Town Council Offices from mid April. The tree, stake, guard, ties and planting will cost £50.
