Sign-ups are now open for Hope Support Services’ biggest fundraiser of the year, Jump for Hope.

The charity has raised around £30,000 since its flagship event began, helping support young people right here in Ross-on-Wye when a family member is diagnosed with a life threatening illness.

Last year’s skydive saw Hope’s youth support worker and Ross resident Zavierre Gunn take to the skies in the 10,000ft jump.

“It was the most daunting but exhilarating experience of my life,” said Zavierre. “Everyone should tick it off their bucket list – it was amazing that I could raise money for a great charity whilst doing something so exciting.”

Zavierre was one of ten brave participants who signed up last year, benefiting from one of the lowest fundraising targets required for a charity jump.

“Zavierre was on an internship with us last year and still does some sessions with us now he’s at University,” added Hope’s administrator Lorna Russell. “Although jumping from a plane is certainly a little bit different to his usual work!”

She added: “Jump for Hope is not only our biggest fundraiser, but it’s the event that draws one of the widest range of people to take part. We make sure we set a realistic fundraising target to try and ensure anyone can participate – as long as they can sign the medical form of course.”

This year’s adrenalin-fuelled challenge will take place on Sunday, May 21st. Places are limited, so call 01989 566317 or visit the website, www.hopesupport.org.uk/jump-for-hope for more information.
