Last December a group of residents in Goodrich were so fed up with looking at a building site in their village that they turned it into a reverse Advent calendar.

Instead of removing a window or chocolate, as in the more usual calendars at this time of year, they were adding a festive decoration to the fence around the Old School every day.

A year has passed since they increased their pressure on Herefordshire Council to get something done about the building site in the centre of the village. Yet they are still faced with the sight of the delapidated building every day.

Despite continuing efforts by OSBAG, the school remains an eyesore. A spokesperson for the group told the Ross Gazette: “The builders have tidied the site up a little but, despite promises to resume development of the site, they have failed to do so. Hereford Council appear not to share our view that this situation is a serious blight on the village.”

The residents formed their action group Old School Building Action Group, (OSBAG) in 2014, and, in May, wrote to the Chief Executive of Herefordshire Council setting out the history of the site. Work began in 2009 but very little has been done to the building since.

The residents feel they have been very patient and have once again adorned the fencing around the site to highlight their concerns as time passes.
