Members of the Light Infantry and Rifles Association of Ross-on-Wye met for their Annual Dinner at The Royal Hotel on Saturday, January 26th.

The group was originally set up to support former comrades.

The aims of the Association revolve around looking after the needs of both former ‘D’ Coy soliders and their dependants and it was decided that the best way to achieve this was to hold regular get togethers.

The event is an opportunity for the members to socialise and recall their time serving with the former TA company which was based in Ross, D Company.

The purpose of the Association is to provide a platform for comradeship to these former colleagues and there was plenty of good humoured banter as they reminisced during the meal.

There was also the chance to view the Association’s standard which was blessed at a special service at St Mary’s Church in Ross last year.

The Association was founded in 2015 by Colonel Bob Purvis alongside Major Ladi Broadman, Major Robert Barnes and Bob Morris.

Sadly, Colonel Bob was not well enough to attend the AGM which took place before the dinner.
