Ross-on-Wye Community First Responders are raising funds for a second response vehicle. They are looking to raise £7,000, which would cover the cost of the vehicle, CFR livery, communications and medical equipment.
Their car is already well-known throughout the area and many people are grateful for the speedy way the Responders can turn up in their specially adapted vehicle.
A second response vehicle would enhance their ability to respond to incidents day to day, but also in inclement weather.
Ross-on-Wye Community First Responder scheme currently operates a single response vehicle. This has been funded and run through donations from the public, communities and other groups and businesses. It has been successful in ensuring that the responders can get out in all weather conditions, even when their personal vehicles are stuck in the snow.
The group has had a recent intake of five new responders over the past 12 months, which takes their number up to 10. With a likelihood of gaining further responders in the future the need to have two vehicles is greater. When the responders join the scheme they agree to using their personal vehicles, but having access to a charity funded vehicle helps increase awareness when they respond to an incident.
They are looking to purchase a 4x4 to ensure access in all weathers. It has to be of a size that can carry all their equipment, and the Responders, and must be reliable to reduce running costs.
They are hoping to fundraise around £5000-7000 in donations, to ensure they have enough funding to meet all the costs. Visit their justgiving page to make a donation.
