Madam, I would advise our councillors to be extremely cautious before agreeing to any order to create a one-way system (presumably it would have to be upwards) in Copse Cross Street. If this were done there would be a completely unacceptable trade-off on traffic flows in Alton Street.

This very narrow road is already overloaded with traffic, much of it very heavy, including enormous tractor trailers bearing farm crops, plus all those HGV's that continue to ignore, with impunity, the through Ross-on-Wye traffic orders.

Alton Street is used as an essential car park by the street's householders who have nowhere else to leave their cars and the ensuing blockages already lead to regular occurrences of road rage amongst through traffic.

The generation of even more traffic in Alton Street that would be created by a one-way system in Copse Cross Street would, in all probability, lead to regular gridlock in Alton Street. Should this occur then those who support this idea will bear the responsibility for our emergency services being unable to access our Community Hospital.

This idea should be stifled at birth.
