Ross Ramblers Tuesday walk started at Weston Under Penyard and headed south through the tracks to Dancing Green. Twenty one walkers enjoyed the rich autumn colours of the surrounding woods while the route itself was in full sunshine and seasonably muddy. The return route passed close the Penyard Woods, with leaders Ivor and Christine heading unerringly to Weston Cross Inn, where several of the walkers stayed on for a pub lunch.
On Saturday November 16th, 11 walkers tackled an energetic switchback route around the Great and Little Dowards, starting at Whitchurch. Neville's chosen route involved many of the area's complex network of sunken lanes and paths which would be hard to find without local knowledge. After enjoying the view of the Wye from a remote vantage point of the Severn Sisters rock group the group headed for King Arthur's Cave, where they were pleased to be able to shelter in the mouth of the cave and have lunch during the worst of a shower of rain. For the full report, see The Ross Gazette issue dated November 19th. Would you please note that the Ross Ramblers Association Ross Group walk programmed for Saturday November 22nd has been cancelled.
