‘UNFORESEEN circumstances’ led to the closure of a Ross-on-Wye school this afternoon
Parents were asked to to collect children after incident forced the closure Ashfield Park Primary School and Nursery after the school's building was declared "out of action" due to unforeseen circumstances.
In an urgent message shared on the school's social media channels, the school reassured families that all children were safe while asking parents to collect pupils as soon as possible.
Parents were asked not to use vehicles on Redhill Road, with the school requesting that collections be made on foot only.
The school warned that children might not be able to collect their belongings before leaving.
Staff said any children who could not be collected immediately would remain safely supervised by teachers until they could be picked up.
A meeting for new parents due to be held at the school was also cancelled.
The nature of the unforeseen circumstances has not been revealed although a number of homes in the area were hit by a power cut this afternoon.
