MADAM, My 18 year old son, Marcus Clifford, and I were staying at Flanesford Priory, outside Ross, for the Hay Festival.
We are members of the Baker Street Irregulars Astronomy Club in London and brought our telescopes with us to try and catch the Transit of Venus at sunrise on Wednesday, June 6th.
We chose Yat Rock as it has an excellent elevated view and even though it was generally cloudy we were very lucky and were able to observe the transit for about 20 minutes. We caught all of the third contact and some of the second, just after sunrise at about 5am.
