ROSS-ON-WYE Town Council is looking forward to welcoming locals back to the town’s annual Christmas Fayre later this month after last year’s event had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.
Organisers said they were "very sad" to have had to cancel the event last year because of limits on the number of people who could attend due to Covid-19 restrictions.
But the fayre is back for 2021 and will feature more than 50 stalls selling locally handmade arts and crafts, as well as "delicious" artisan food and drink, across the town centre, Broad Street and Croft Court on Sunday, November 21.
The council says the town will "come alive" during the fayre with entertainment from local choirs and bands at the Market House during the afternoon.
The stalls in the town centre will feature a "huge range of gorgeous gifts" for Christmas shoppers, from decorations, candles, bath bombs, ceramics and jewellery, to cheese, chutneys, hampers, brownies and blankets.
Little ones will also be able to pay a visit to Santa’s Grotto at The Venue on Hill Street, where there will also be an array of charity stalls with "plenty more gift ideas" available for shoppers.
Also returning to the fayre this year will be Hereford’s The Beefy Boys, who will be serving up their "delicious" award-winning burgers for browsers.
The council says there will "most definitely be something for everyone" at the fayre, with attractions for all ages to "really get you in the festive spirit".
To ensure crowd safety, the council has announced that there will not be an official Christmas lights switch-on this year, and additional covid secure measures will be in place at the fayre.
Visitors are advised to continue to practice social distancing, wear a mask and use hand sanitisers at the stations provided. Anyone attending the fayre is asked to conduct a lateral flow test beforehand, and if testing positive or displaying any symptoms of coronavirus or norovirus, to please not attend.
