JR (Josh) Hopkins is a talented musician who lives between Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth and regularly hosts open mic nights at a variety of venues. Thanks to BBC Hereford and Worcester he performed at the switch on of the Christmas lights for Worcester at the start of the festive season.
JR performed a number of tracks he sent into BBC Introducing. He did not know he was being considered for the festive event until he was asked to appear.
A spokesperson for BBC Introducing said that they hope that his experience will inspire others to send in their music, as they said they really do listen to everything.
JR is a solo artist who started out as a keen percussionist and drummer before moving on to play the guitar. He trained at college in Music Performance and plays regularly at various locations across the country.
Andrew Marston, presenter of BBC Music Introducing in Hereford and Worcester described it as: “A stunning performance from one man – with the sound of a full band.”
JR’s full session of four tracks, along with an interview and audience reaction, can be viewed online at: bbc.co.uk/introhw
