BOOK lovers and event goers in Ross on Wye can look forward to two fascinating literary evenings next month as St Mary’s Church welcomes acclaimed printmaker Angela Harding and Sky Sports F1 presenter Ted Kravitz for special talks and book signings.
The first event, An Evening with Angela Harding, takes place on Saturday, November 8 at 7PM. Known for her distinctive, nature inspired artwork, Angela will offer a glimpse into her creative process and discuss how the British countryside shapes her celebrated prints and illustrations.
Living and working in the village of Wing in Rutland, Angela’s art captures the beauty and rhythm of British wildlife, from sparrows and blackbirds in her garden to curlews and oystercatchers spotted along the Norfolk and Suffolk coasts.
Her work reflects a deep connection to the landscape and seasons, blending fine detail with a sense of stillness and atmosphere that has earned her a devoted following.
Her illustrations have appeared on the covers of books by well known authors including P.D. James, Ted Hughes, Katya Balen and James Rebanks, while her children’s book illustrations include RSPB Birds by Miranda Krestovnikoff and Wilding by Isabella Tree, an adaptation of the bestselling conservation memoir.
Angela has also written and illustrated several books of her own, including A Year Unfolding, Wild Light and Still Waters and Wild Waves.
Beyond her books, Angela’s artwork features on calendars, cards, jigsaws and homeware, making her designs a familiar sight for lovers of British nature and craft.
Her illustrated talk will be followed by an audience Q&A and book signing. Tickets cost £8, with £3 redeemable against a book purchase at the event.
The following week, on Thursday, November 13 at 7PM, Ted Kravitz will bring the thrill of motorsport to St Mary’s with An Evening with Ted Kravitz – F1 Insider.
A familiar face to millions of Formula One fans, Ted has spent more than two decades reporting from the heart of the paddock and pit lane. His popular Ted’s Notebook series on Sky Sports F1 has become essential viewing for fans eager to learn what really happens behind the scenes.
In his talk, Ted will share insights from his new book F1 Insider, published by Octopus Publishing in September, which explores the inner workings of the sport.
Drawing on his experiences from covering races in Australia, Italy, China and the United States, Ted will offer stories and observations on the past, present and future of Formula One, including what life is like among the drivers, engineers and team principals.
Described as “one of the most high profile voices in F1,” Ted’s easy going and informative style has made him a fan favourite. After the talk, he will answer questions from the audience and sign copies of F1 Insider, priced at £22. Tickets for the evening cost £9, with £3 redeemable against the purchase of the book at the event.
Both evenings are jointly organised by Rossiter Books and The Friends of St Mary’s Ross on Wye. Tickets are available from Rossiter Books.
